5%+ Dividend Yield Portfolio: The Number Of Stocks To Own (Apr 2019 Review)

Musings More than any single topic, I get a LOT of comments on my articles about ideal portfolio size (the age old ‘concentration vs. diversification’ debate). This is especially true of my extensive ETF holdings (about 50% of my total assets) where I own small pieces of many hundreds of companies. I suppose I’ve always tended to error towards over-diversification since I’ve internalized the ‘wisdom’ that I was taught as an undergraduate finance major about how diversification is the... Through Thick Or Thin, The Dividends Keep Rolling In

For about a year now I have continued to read articles in Seeking Alpha and other media that express worry over an impending bear market. Some of this is obviously generated by investment advisors looking for new customers to subscribe to their services, but some express a more realistic view that keeps us wondering how long this bull market will last. My own opinion is that Federal regulatory interventions have reduced the chance of a really bad recession, and more and more people have turned... Read more

This list is a trimmed-down version only covering dividend increases. A full upcoming dividend calendar is always available... Read more

Dividend Increases: April 8-19, 2019

One way to identify dividend growth stocks for further analysis is to monitor dividend increases. Companies can only raise their dividends regularly and sustainably if they grow earnings sufficiently. The CCC List provides a good starting point, but I limit the number of stocks to monitor by applying the following screens: Dividend Yield ? 1.0% Market cap ? $1 billion No stocks that are being acquired No Over-The-Counter or Pink Sheet stocks In the past few weeks, 17 companies that... My Portfolio Is Yielding Over 6%; But Where Are We Headed Now?

Last October I posted an article describing my then current portfolio and suggested that change was in the wind. At the time it was earning 5.75%, and producing enough supplemental income for us to meet our needs and still save a little. See "My retirement-portfolio-at-575-percent-income" to compare with this present information.
