Dividend Champion And Contender Highlights: Week Of June 2

Introduction The Dividend Champions list is a monthly compilation of companies which have consistently increased their annual dividend payouts, and the latest edition may be found here. However, since this list is only produced once per month, the data in it can quickly get out of date. Furthermore, with close to 900 companies on the list, the sheer amount of data can quickly become overwhelming. In this weekly series, I highlight recent and upcoming dividend related activity for companies... Read more

24 Upcoming Dividend Increases, Including 2 Kings

I'm a huge fan of dividend growth stocks and hope you are too. If you do, you are in the right place! I've compiled a list of stocks that are increasing their dividend next week. This gives investors an opportunity to start or add to a position to capture an upcoming payment. This can be especially important for retirees who live on dividend checks. This list is a trimmed-down version only covering dividend increases. A full upcoming dividend calendar is always available here. If you know... Read more

Upcoming Dividends: 84 Companies, 42 Increases, 21 Double-Digit Increases

Introduction The information presented below was created based on combining the "U.S. Dividend Champion" spreadsheet compiled by David Fish hosted here with upcoming dividend information from the Nasdaq. This meshes metrics about companies with dividend growth history with upcoming dividend payments (and whether those payments are increasing). These lists highlight the companies with a minimum 5-year dividend growth history. There are companies that, for various reasons, do not appear in... Read more

Auburn National Bancorporation - This Dividend Contender Just Doubled Its Dividend Growth Rate

One of my favorite areas of the stock market in which to look for possibly fairly- or undervalued dividend stocks is the community banking sector. These banks, which are underfollowed by both the Seeking Alpha community and Wall Street in general, can sometimes offer investors fair prices on well-run cash flow generative businesses. One of my favorite names within the space (and one which I hold in my personal portfolio) is Auburn National Bancorporation (AUBN), the parent company of... Read more

Dividend Contenders: 47 Increases Expected In The Next 11 Weeks

In compiling the Dividend Champions list, I get to see which companies are nearing the anniversaries of their previous dividend increases. Since most of these firms raise their payout about the same time every year, I can say with some confidence that they are likely to do so again. I have separated the Champions (25 or more years of higher dividends), Contenders (10-24 years), and Challengers (5-9 years) into distinct groupings, so please look for the other articles, which I hope will be... 55 Dividend Growth Stocks Going Ex-Dividend Next Week

The first list below provides a set of upcoming dividend stock opportunities. These are the companies that have a minimum 5 year dividend growth... Read more

Dividend Growth Stocks Going Ex-Div Next Week (September 5-8)

Introduction As a dividend growth investor I am always trying to track both stocks that I own and those on my watchlist. I'm mostly interested in companies that have a historical record growing their payments over time. One particular angle of interest is knowing when these companies pay their dividends (and if they are set to increase). This data is provided by analyzing the "U.S. Dividend Champion" spreadsheet compiled by David Fish hosted here. That data is cross-referenced with upcoming... Read more

Reliable Dividend Bank Stocks: Valuations & Recommendations

This post is a follow-up to my June 14 Seeking Alpha analysis, Finding Alpha in Reliable Dividend Banks. In that post I reviewed total returns of 30 reliable dividend paying banks to the S&P and the nationís biggest 14 banks. The analysis revealed that these banks as a peer group have created alpha over 1, 3, 5, and 10 years. This post compares current valuations of the 30 banks to valuations since 2004. The following questions will be addressed: • Are these reliable dividend banks... Read more

Finding Alpha In Reliable Dividend Banks

Background Since retiring from a 31 year career in banking at the end of 2011, I have spent my time researching, writing, and speaking about US banks. One of my keenest interests is understanding why some banks do consistently well and others fail. My first book covered bank failures while my second focused on the nation's highest performing banks. In my book about great banks I discovered a few critical factors influence long-term success in banking: hands-on expert management,... Read more
