Beware of stocks with an extremely high dividend yield! This can be caused by a stock price that is extremely low, compared to the trailing twelve months (ttm) dividend. Or it can be caused by a special, one-time only super dividend.

Dividend Champion And Contender Highlights: Week Of September 22

Introduction The Dividend Champions list is a monthly compilation of companies which have consistently increased their annual dividend payouts, and the latest edition may be found here. However, since this list is only produced once per month, the data in it can quickly get out of date. Furthermore, with close to 900 companies on the list, the sheer amount of data can quickly become overwhelming. In this weekly series, I highlight recent and upcoming dividend related activity for companies... Read more

A Dividend Growth Analysis Of The Dividend Champions

Overview In this article I present my first analysis of the Dividend Champions. The Dividend Champions are U.S. stocks that have grown their dividend for 25+ years in a row. This is a fairly select list as only 107 companies have successfully done so. This is out of the over 4,000 companies listed on stock exchanges at the end of 2018. These companies have survived periods of inflation, stock market crashes, global crisis and deep recessions. They may not have grown revenue and earnings per... Read more

The Most Undervalued And Overvalued Dividend Champions - August 2019

Here is the July 2019 list of the most undervalued and overvalued Dividend Champions based on a comparison to historical yield. In June 2015, I started a series of articles in which I highlight the stocks from the Dividend Champions list that have the highest and the lowest Percent Above Average Yield (PAAY) over the past year and over the past five years.... March To Freedom Fund 1st Quarter Update: 12%+ Portfolio Growth And 31% Increase In Dividends

Now that the first quarter of 2019 has ended, it is time to review how the March to Freedom Fund performed during this time. The March to Freedom Fund will provide income for my wife and I in retirement, which is 20 years or so away. The goal is to live off the dividends from the portfolio in retirement. Through the end of the first quarter, our portfolio gained 12.4%. As always, this includes dividends received, but not contributions that we have made. By comparison, the S&P 500 had a... Read more

What Are The Highest Quality Dividend Growth Stocks?

About a year ago, I was surprised when I published an article on high-quality dividend growth stocks, and it went on to receive the most page views of anything I have ever published on Seeking Alpha. This is a new version of that article. Many dividend growth investors try to stick to really high-quality stocks. They prize quality as much as yield, dividend growth rate, and valuation when they are selecting stocks. There are nearly infinite ways to define quality, of course, but... Read more

Challenging Q4 For The Dividend Growth TR Portfolio, But Well-Positioned For 2019

Q4 Review Q4 2018 was a volatile quarter. Between rising interest rates, concerns about the trade war with China, and our government shutting down, equities declined sharply; the S&P 500 Total Return index was down 14.3%. The DGTR portfolio underperformed with a 16.4% decline, caused in part by its lower-yield, higher-growth focus and sharp pullbacks in a few specific holdings. For 2018, the DGTR had a -5.8% return compared to -5.2% for the S&P 500 TR. However, since its 2017... Read more

In this article, I rank a subset of CCC stocks and present the 10 top-ranked stocks for further research. My ranking system assigns letter grades to stocks relative to their performance among sector peers. Given increased market volatility, I'm... Read more
